What to bring to a CHL class:

• CHL application packet from the Texas Department of Public Safety. We provide these at no cost, but if you have one you already filled out, please feel free to bring it. You can also go ahead and start the application process before takeing the CHL class, by going through the DPS online application process.  You will still need to take the CHL class, but it will give you a head start on the paperwork from the state.
• Handgun you would like to use – Has to be at least a .32 caliber center fire. Your hand gun will be inspected by CHL instructor and allowed only if deemed safe.
• Note: If you qualify with a revolver all you can carry is a revolver – we recommend qualifying with a semi auto – we can provide you with one to use for the class upon request.   There is a charge of $25 which does NOT include the ammo cost.  We will sell the ammunition to you at our cost
  
• Up to 150 rounds of ammunition for your handgun (NO RELOADS). The ammunition must be factory production or re-production. If you are planning on borrowing the class handgun, please bring $25 for ammunition (50 rounds, if you need another opportunity to qualify, it will take cost an additional $25 for each qualification turn). Qualification consists of only 50 rounds, but you have three opportunities to qualify giving the 150 rounds needed for the class.
• You will have to sign consent forms before the class starts (extras will be provided at the class).
• Eye and ear protection (Safety glasses, ear plugs/muffs) if you have it for the range. If you don’t own eye or ear protection, class sets will be provided at the range for temporary use while you qualify.

FOR EVERYONE'S SAFETY, DO NOT COME TO CLASS WITH A LOADED HANDGUN, NOR BRING IT INTO THE CLASSROOM FACILITY!!!  ALSO, PLEASE DO NOT BRING A LOADED GUN TO THE RANGE.  WE WILL LOAD HANDGUNS IN AN ORGANIZED FASHION.  ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS WILL BE PROVIDED FOR THE RANGE WHEN WE ARE READY TO PROCEED!
